For Anri Sala’s exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery, London, we created an exhibition catalogue in close collaboration with the artist, that circles around the idea of music, sound, performance, space, transcriptions, and scores. Thanks to the mighty skills of Bettina Mönch at Buchbinderei Mönch, the catalogues is a stapled bound hardcover book. Through the use of staple binding we could realize a sequence of paper changes that is based on the high and low tones of “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” from Le Clash. Yet functioning as an exhibition catalogue the book is a hybrid between an catalogue, artist book and musical score.
